2016 R&B Artist of the Year, Seyi Shay released the video for her 2017 hit single YOLO YOLO produced by DJ Coublon.
The Video was shot by Meji Alabi for JM Films in the tropical region of South Africa. The captivating visuals and scenery also shows Seyi Shay all dressed up like a modern African princess.
While the song itself which is inspired by the late Fela Kuti is a hit which is bound to take her places, the video is definitely a “multiple awards” material. It throws light on another exciting side of Seyi which we haven’t seen before..
The video obviously is set to target the African viewers in general but we would have loved to see more of the African culture in its entirety. A major high point of the video was the sexy “Beyonce” vibe Seyi had going for her towards the middle of the song where she takes to a stage to perform in a Sequined fringed red dress.
She was styled by multiple award winning celebrity stylist and fashion designer, Jeremiahs Ogbodo aka SwankyJerry.
The set, although seemingly similar to that of Timaya’s Bam Bam video, is quite unique in it’s own way and is different from what we’re used to seeing in music videos from Nigerian artistes.
Listen and enjoy.
